Quote of the Month
"We must learn to accept the fact that during their

Empathic Parenting: Being There for our Children and for
Others by Tamara Parnay
"Children are great imitators of others' behavior. When
they are surrounded by people who love them and respond to them
respectfully and with empathy, they respond this way to others
too. Now, what if I am lovingly responsive to my children's
needs, but I don't extend this caring manner to others outside
my family? I can't help but wonder how this impacts on my
children..."

Stay-at-home moms worth $117,000 per year
A May 2008 survey of more than 18,000 mothers found that
"the time mothers spend performing 10 typical job functions
would equate to an annual salary of $116,805 for a stay-at-home
mom." The eighth annual survey calculated market value by
studying pay levels for ten job titles for work that a
stay-at-home mother performs, ranging from housekeeper and day
care center teacher to van driver, psychologist and chief
executive officer. At-home moms reported working an average of
94.4 hours per week.

UK Government should pay mothers to stay home
Parents of children under three should be given up to £60 a
week per child to enable them to stay at home, according to the
Policy Exchange. Its report, "Little Britons",
criticized the government's early-years policy, saying it puts
too much emphasis on getting mothers back to work by placing
very young children in day care, despite evidence that most
families would prefer their children to be cared for at home.
